System Engineer
About the role
The Systems Engineer / Systems Operations Engineer role is designed for early-career professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in cloud platforms, Microsoft technologies, identity and access management, networking, security, automation, and modern workplace environments. The position involves maintaining secure and reliable technology environments for both internal teams and clients, handling day-to-day operations, incident resolution, infrastructure improvements, cloud services, and automation initiatives. Key responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, managing Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, supporting Active Directory and Group Policy, assisting with cloud infrastructure, maintaining security and reliability, performing systems maintenance, supporting infrastructure lifecycle activities, improving and automating operations, providing technical support, and documenting procedures and knowledge. Must have
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Systems Administration, IT Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, or a similar role.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Good understanding of systems administration, infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies, and identity management.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and take ownership of issues through to resolution.
- A proactive mindset with an interest in improving existing systems and processes.
- Ability and willingness to continuously learn new technologies.
Nice to have
- Microsoft, Azure, AWS, or other relevant industry certifications.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments.
- Experience with Azure and/or AWS infrastructure.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Exposure to infrastructure monitoring, security, backup, or endpoint-management platforms.
- Experience working with client environments or managed IT services.
