About the role

OXO Tech is seeking a Junior Quality Assurance Engineer to join a product squad working with Pearson. The role involves both manual and automated testing of web and API layers, collaborating closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure high-quality feature delivery. Responsibilities include designing and executing test cases, maintaining UI automation with Playwright, contributing to API automation, testing AI-assisted features, managing defects, and using AI tools to accelerate testing. The ideal candidate will have 2–3 years of QE or software testing experience and be ready to take ownership of their work while growing into a more senior role. OXO Tech is a fast-growing software services company with a global client base and offers a flexible work model, career progression, and exposure to the latest technology stacks.

Must have

  • 2–3 years of QE or software testing experience in a professional or placement setting
  • practical experience independently writing and executing test cases for web or mobile applications; covers happy path, negative path, and edge cases
  • hands-on experience writing, running, and maintaining UI automation tests in Playwright; can build new tests independently, not just modify existing ones
  • experience testing REST APIs — understands HTTP methods, status codes, and response validation; has used a tool such as Postman, Testfully, or equivalent
  • some exposure to testing AI-assisted or AI-generated features; understands that non-deterministic outputs require a different testing approach
  • comfortable branching, committing, pushing, and raising a pull or merge request; has monitored a CI/CD pipeline result after pushing
  • writes clear, structured bug reports including reproduction steps, expected vs actual behaviour, and supporting evidence
  • uses AI coding and testing tools as a productivity aid; understands that output must always be reviewed and validated before use

Nice to have

  • Experience with a test management tool (e.g. Zephyr, TestRail, Xray)
  • Exposure to BDD or Gherkin-style test writing
  • Some experience with API contract or integration testing
  • Exposure to testing agentic AI or multi-step AI workflows
  • Basic understanding of LLM outputs and how to evaluate them for correctness and consistency
  • Degree or qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
