Senior/Lead - Data Scientist
About the role
The Senior/Lead Data Scientist at John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) will be a core member of the advanced analytics project delivery teams within the analytics Center of Excellence, OCTAVE. The role involves conducting complex statistical analyses on large datasets, building and iterating advanced statistical and machine learning models, and collaborating with data engineers, translators, and senior data scientists. The position requires familiarity with the analytics project life cycle and contributing to knowledge sharing and best practices within the team. JKH is Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, and OCTAVE is central to its data-driven strategic and operational decisions, impacting multiple sectors and millions of Sri Lankans.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Economics or a related field.
- Theoretical knowledge of advanced analytics techniques.
- At least 6 years of relevant analytics experience.
- Experience in machine learning techniques.
- Hands on experience in solving analytics problems in at least 1 industry.
- Ability to work well in agile environments in diverse teams with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong drive to learn and good organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex analytical and technical content.
- High energy and passionate individual who can work closely with other team members.
- Excited about trying new solutions outside standard methodologies.
- Willing to adopt an iterative approach; experimental mindset to drive innovation.
Nice to have
- Understanding of data engineering techniques and concepts like pilot testing and execution is a good to have.
