Data Protection Officer (DPO)
About the role
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for overseeing the company's data protection and privacy framework, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's data protection framework, conducting privacy impact and risk assessments, developing policies and controls, investigating data breaches, liaising with regulators and stakeholders, and advising management on privacy risks and regulatory developments. The DPO will also conduct staff awareness and training programs and maintain data processing records and retention schedules.
Must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Law, Information Security, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in data protection, compliance, risk management, or information security.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations.
- Risk management and compliance expertise.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to have
- Professional certification in Data Protection or Privacy Management preferred.
- Experience in the financial services sector will be an added advantage.
