Senior System Engineer (MSP)
About the role
ParagonIT, an Australian-owned IT services company, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer based in Sri Lanka to support Australian clients. The role involves managing cybersecurity solutions, delivering infrastructure and cloud projects, and providing senior-level remote support across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking, and endpoint environments. Responsibilities include technical issue resolution, administration of Microsoft 365 services, daily management of cybersecurity solutions, patching, vulnerability remediation, and mentoring junior engineers. The position requires strong technical and communication skills, hands-on cybersecurity experience, and the ability to work during Australian business hours in a remote setting.
Must have
- At least 5 years of relevant systems engineering or IT infrastructure support experience, preferably within an MSP.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and networking.
- Experience with Azure, Entra ID, Intune and Microsoft 365 security controls.
- Practical experience administering cybersecurity solutions and performing daily security monitoring, maintenance and remediation.
- An understanding of endpoint security, email threats, identity protection, vulnerability management and incident response.
- Working knowledge of virtualisation, backup and recovery, and remote monitoring tools.
- Confident troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage competing priorities independently.
- Excellent spoken and written English, with a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Availability to work during Australian business hours.
- Reliable internet connectivity and a suitable remote working environment in Sri Lanka.
Nice to have
- Experience with SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender, Trend Micro, ThreatLocker, NinjaOne, Veeam, Acronis, Nutanix, Hyper-V, PowerShell, Fortinet or Palo Alto would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Essential Eight and relevant Microsoft, networking or cybersecurity certifications are also valued.
