Data Engineer
About the role
The Engineer – Data Engineering role involves developing and maintaining scalable batch and streaming data pipelines, primarily using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and other cloud data processing services. The position requires building ETL/ELT workflows, Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines, and developing data solutions with Python, SQL, and Shell/Bash. The engineer will also support CI/CD, DevOps, cloud security, and performance optimization. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or an equivalent qualification, and preferably 1–2 years of relevant data engineering experience. The company is based in Sri Lanka and offers an opportunity to work with modern data engineering technologies.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or an equivalent qualification.
- Preferably 1–2 years of relevant data engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of Python, SQL and data engineering fundamentals.
- Exposure to GCP, BigQuery, ETL/ELT pipelines and relational or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD and Agile/Scrum practices.
Nice to have
- Experience with Fivetran, ERP data integrations, Terraform and data streaming technologies will be an added advantage.
