Senior DevOps Engineer - AWS
About the role
The Senior DevOps Engineer will work closely with the DevOps & Cloud Engineer Lead and software engineering teams to build, automate, and support cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities for the Digital Product portfolio. This hands-on role focuses on AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and automation, with responsibilities including building and maintaining AWS infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, automating operational processes, and supporting application deployments. The position also involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving automation, reliability, and security, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to technical standards and documentation.
Must have
- Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS is required and experience with other cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is advantageous.
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code with Terraform experience highly desirable.
- Practical scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python or a similar language.
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts including networking, identity, access management and security.
- Experience with, or understanding of, deploying and supporting applications in a cloud environment.
- Experience with AWS Amplify, DynamoDB, Lambda, API gateway, Cloudformation, WAF, IAM, Jenkins would be highly desirable.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude) and familiarity with integrating LLM APIs into workflows.
- Understanding of software development practices including source control, pull requests and code review.
- Good communication skills – written and verbal.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Takes ownership of assigned work and follows tasks through to completion.
- The ability to occasionally work outside normal business hours, including weekends.
