SQL Server Database Administrator
About the role
The SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring platform health, availability, performance, and data protection. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting T-SQL issues, tuning queries, managing backups and restores, and handling operational alerts using tools like Azure Log Analytics and Application Insights. The role requires 2-3 years of experience with SQL Server or similar relational databases, strong knowledge of SQL Server administration, and experience with runbook-driven operations and incident management. The position emphasizes a methodical approach, attention to detail, and clear communication, especially during shift handoffs and incident updates.
Must have
- 2-3 years' experience supporting SQL Server or similar relational database systems
- Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, T-SQL, monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance analysis
- Experience with runbook-driven operations, incident documentation, first-level troubleshooting and structured escalation
- A methodical approach, attention to detail and calm under pressure
- Clear written and verbal communication, especially in handoffs and incident updates
Nice to have
- Experience in banking, finance companies or other regulated financial services
- Familiarity with CBSL regulatory expectations around data integrity, availability and audit trails
- Exposure to Azure SQL, Azure Monitor/KQL, or PowerShell automation
- ITIL Foundation or a Microsoft certification (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate)
