Assistant Manager – Product Management
About the role
The Assistant Manager – Product Management at Ascent is responsible for managing products throughout their lifecycle, from discovery and strategy to delivery, launch, and continuous improvement. The role involves translating customer and business needs into actionable product outcomes, collaborating with Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders. The position is hands-on, requiring direct involvement in operational studies to identify opportunities, build business cases, and carry products through to live adoption. The Assistant Manager will also help establish standards and toolkits for the newly formed Business Excellence function, focusing on reusable accelerators, demo-ready tools, and building a library of assets to support future engagements.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in the IT industry, including 2–3 years in Product Management, preferably with SaaS or technology products.
- Proven experience in product discovery, roadmap management, requirements definition, prioritization, and end-to-end product delivery.
- A track record of writing requirements or user stories that engineering has actually built and shipped.
- Hands-on command of a BI and dashboarding tool (Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), with strong Excel and working SQL.
- Experience building a business case or ROI model that was used to make a real decision.
- Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Nice to have
- Professional product certification such as CSPO, PSPO, SAFe POPM, or equivalent.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or the appetite to earn it. Ascent will sponsor certification within your first 12 months.
- Experience running end-to-end process studies and producing process maps — comfort with a stopwatch, a sample and a spreadsheet, not just a workshop.
- Hands-on exposure to RPA or low-code automation (UiPath, Power Automate, Blue Prism, Power Apps).
- Experience in BPO, shared services, or IT services delivery.
- Wireframing or prototyping ability (Figma or similar).
- Exposure to AI tooling and a clear view of where it genuinely fits into an operation.
