Database Administrator
About the role
The Database Administrator will be responsible for administering, securing, and optimizing both relational and NoSQL databases to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability. The role involves working closely with Development, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams. Key responsibilities include monitoring production and non-production databases, ensuring performance and security, managing backup and disaster recovery, performing database tuning, executing upgrades and migrations, managing users and permissions, and supporting incidents and continuous improvement. The position is based in Sri Lanka and is full-time.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field
- 3–5 years of database administration experience
- Experience with production databases (Amazon RDS)
- Strong knowledge of database architecture, transactions, indexing and concurrency
- Experience with backup, recovery, replication and failover
- Good knowledge of Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork
- Experience with two or more of the following: MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Nice to have
- Experience with automation and scripting
- Monitoring tools and alerting experience
