Data Operations Support Lead - ETL + Snowflake + Azure
About the role
The Data Operations Support Lead at Gallagher Sri Lanka is a senior technical and operational role responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of enterprise production data platforms, particularly in insurance and financial data warehouse environments. The position serves as the main escalation point for complex incidents, coordinates daily operational activities across multiple teams, and supports improvements in monitoring, automation, data governance, and service health. Key responsibilities include managing the data operations intake process, supporting data integrity and security, contributing to architectural discussions, preparing service reports, maintaining documentation, supporting audit activities, and mentoring support engineers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data operations, production support, and hands-on expertise with ETL/ELT pipelines, Snowflake, Azure, and related technologies.
Must have
- 8+ years of experience in data operations, production support, or a similar data-focused support role.
- Hands-on experience with ETL and ELT pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and complex data transformations.
- Experience supporting recurring production data workflows in a time-sensitive environment.
- Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Astronomer (Airflow), Automic Automation, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, and Azure DevOps.
- Experience managing incident intake, prioritisation, escalation, and cross-functional coordination.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior colleagues.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and make sound escalation decisions.
- Familiarity with access controls, data security practices, and data governance requirements.
- Experience supporting SOX, GDPR, and audit requests.
- Willingness and ability to work US business hours on an assigned US time zone schedule.
