Manager - Data Protection Officer
About the role
The Manager - Data Protection Officer will advise and guide the organization on personal data protection obligations, evaluate compliance levels, and maintain the Data Protection Management Program of the bank. Key responsibilities include developing and updating data protection policies, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements, monitoring compliance, addressing non-compliance, overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments, and leading incident response for data breaches. The role also involves developing training programs and serving as the main contact for staff and regulators on data protection matters. The position is at manager level within NDB Bank.
Must have
- Possess at least 7 years of relevant experience in Data Privacy, Information Security, IT or a related discipline, including hands-on experience in assessing technology solutions against information security and data protection requirements.
- Possess a good understanding of the Sri Lanka Personal Data Protection Act and its requirements
- Knowledge of banking operations and Good Knowledge of IT and information security fundamentals and experience in evaluating technology solutions for compliance with information security and data privacy requirements
- Possess one or more personal data protection related qualifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CDPSE, CDPO
- Knowledge of relevant ISO standards
- Experience with reviewing legal agreements and qualifications in law would be an added advantage
- Experience in handling data breaches, audits, data subject requests, and data protection impact assessments
- Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Nice to have
- Experience in the financial services sector can be an added advantage
