About the role
The Senior Software Engineer - AI role involves designing, developing, and deploying AI and machine learning solutions, with a focus on generative AI, large language models, and agentic AI workflows. The position requires hands-on experience in AI/ML, strong proficiency in Python, and the ability to build scalable backend applications and APIs. The engineer will be responsible for prompt engineering, integrating AI tools, and working both independently and collaboratively within a team. The company, DirectFN, is seeking candidates who are passionate about AI and eager to contribute to innovative projects.
Must have
- Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, model development, evaluation, and deployment.
- Specialised knowledge and practical experience in: Generative AI Large Language Models (LLMs) Agentic AI and AI-agent workflows Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) AI tool integrations and orchestration
- Strong hands-on prompt engineering skills, including designing, testing, refining, and evaluating prompts for reliable, accurate, and context-aware LLM outputs.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience building scalable backend applications, APIs, and production-ready software solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
