Technical Lead - Python
About the role
This role is for a Technical Lead - Backend (AI + IoT Product) who will lead the backend development of an AI-driven smart monitoring platform integrating live video, IoT, cloud services, and machine learning. The position involves designing scalable APIs and system architecture, optimizing data models, improving platform reliability, and troubleshooting production issues. The Technical Lead will also mentor backend engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and influence the product roadmap. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker, with experience in scalable APIs, microservices, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and cloud-based architectures. Familiarity with Firebase Authentication, REST APIs, gRPC, protobuf, and exposure to IoT, AI/ML, telemetry, or real-time data platforms is highly desirable.
Must have
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong technical leadership.
- Strong expertise in Python, Django, Django REST Framework, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker.
- Experience designing scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with asynchronous processing, background jobs, and cloud-based architectures.
- Familiarity with Firebase Authentication, REST APIs, gRPC, and protobuf.
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering workflows.
- Strong problem-solving, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Exposure to IoT, AI/ML, telemetry, or real-time data platforms is highly desirable.
- Experience with Rust, firmware integration, or startup/product-led environments will be an added advantage.
