About the role

The Senior EDI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining EDI parsers and generators for various formats such as EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, JSON, and flat files. The role involves leading production incident investigations, translating customer mapping specifications, reviewing designs and code from mid-level engineers, and establishing development standards. The engineer will also use AI coding tools to support development and automate processes, validate AI-generated outputs, and mentor other engineers in EDI standards and integration practices. Collaboration with multiple teams and customers is essential to deliver successful integrations.

Must have

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field.
3–5+ years of backend or integration engineering experience, including hands-on EDI experience.
Strong working knowledge of at least one major EDI standard such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12, including interpreting raw messages and troubleshooting errors.
Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#, and SQL.
Hands-on experience with integration protocols and patterns, including AS2, SFTP, REST APIs, and message queues.
Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve development workflows, with the ability to explain practical applications, limitations, and verification methods.
Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills with a focus on implementing permanent solutions.
Sound judgment in validating AI-generated code and outputs, with accountability for correctness and intended solutions.
Ability to share technical knowledge, development practices, and EDI expertise to improve team capabilities.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical functions and engage with customers throughout the integration and go-live process.

Nice to have

Experience in freight forwarding, third-party logistics (3PL), or the supply chain industry will be an added advantage.
