Group Head of Enterprise Data, Analytics & AI
About the role
The Group Head of Enterprise Data, Analytics & AI is a senior strategic leadership position responsible for establishing and leading the enterprise-wide data, analytics, and AI strategy for a major Sri Lankan conglomerate. Reporting to the Group CIO, the role oversees data governance, master data integrity across SAP and non-SAP systems, and ensures ethical, scalable adoption of AI technologies. Key responsibilities include developing and executing the data and AI strategy, chairing governance councils, defining enterprise data architectures, leading business intelligence initiatives, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. The role also involves building and leading a central data and AI team and driving data literacy across the organization. Candidates should have extensive experience in data management, enterprise architecture, and executive leadership within large, ERP-centered environments.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or Business
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in data, analytics, enterprise application architecture, or digital transformation, with at least 5 years in a senior enterprise-wide leadership role
- Proven track record in large ERP-centered environments; strong hands-on strategic exposure to SAP S/4HANA landscapes is required
- Extensive experience leading enterprise data governance, master data management, and data quality programs in large multi-entity organizations; working understanding of AI/ML, GenAI, RAG, and Agentic AI architectures
- Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with a track record of presenting to Boards/Audit Committees and influencing C-suite stakeholders without direct authority
Nice to have
- Master’s degree or MBA is strongly preferred
- Professional qualifications in data management/governance (CDMP/DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, CGEIT), cloud data platforms, SAP Analytics (Datasphere/SAC/BTP/MDG), or AI Governance/Privacy (ISO/IEC 42001, CIPP) are highly advantageous
