Assistant Manager - Business Analytics
About the role
The Assistant Manager - Business Analytics at Sri Lanka Insurance General is responsible for supporting management in prioritizing and providing business information to drive company growth. Key duties include implementing core systems with a focus on data analytics, identifying opportunities through data-driven decision-making, ensuring data integrity, creating dashboards and BI reports, collaborating with development teams, and leading a team of analysts. The role requires at least 10 years of experience in Data Analytics or MIS, strong technical expertise in SQL, proficiency in BI tools, and proven experience handling large datasets and translating business requirements into actionable insights. Candidates must have strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must have
- Masters Degree/Post Graduate Diploma / Degree/ Special Degree/Professional Qualification or Equivalent related to the functional area from a University/institute approved by the UGC.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Data Analytics / MIS, including at least 6 years in a Senior Executive grade, with proven experience in managing data and leading a team.
- Strong technical expertise in SQL, with at least 3 years of experience extracting data from databases such as Oracle and MSSQL.
- Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Cognos Analytics, Tableau, Qlik or Oracle Analytics Server, along with data analysis tools such as MS Excel and SPSS.
- Proven experience in handling large datasets, relational databases, data visualisation and translating business requirements into actionable insights.
- Ability to utilise data analytics to support business growth, revenue enhancement and strategic decision-making.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management and team leadership skills.
- Strong planning, project management and time management abilities, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
- Age should be below 45 years.
