Lead DevOps Engineer
About the role
The Lead DevOps Engineer at LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is a senior technical leadership role within Markets Engineering, responsible for designing, automating, and operating resilient cloud, platform, and application delivery capabilities. The position involves hands-on guidance across CI/CD, infrastructure as code, cloud operations, observability, release automation, and operational resilience. The role requires collaboration with development, infrastructure, architecture, security, and service teams to improve delivery automation, operational readiness, and production stability for critical business services. Candidates should have strong DevOps engineering experience, practical knowledge of major cloud providers, and familiarity with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, and Datadog. The role is based in Malabe and follows a blended (hybrid) work arrangement.
Must have
- Strong hands-on experience in DevOps engineering, cloud platforms and infrastructure automation, ideally in a large-scale enterprise or financial services environment.
- Practical knowledge of AWS or other major cloud providers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD tooling, source control and deployment automation.
- Experience with tools and technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, GitLab, Artifactory, Datadog, scripting languages, observability platforms and service management processes.
- Ability to analyse complex technical problems, assess operational risk, design resilient solutions and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical partners.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor peers, influence engineering decisions and promote a “you build it, you run it” approach.
Nice to have
- Desirable experience includes financial markets, low-latency or highly regulated environments, security controls, secrets management and production support ownership.
