Director of Engineering
About the role
The Director of Engineering at a leading IT company in Malabe, Sri Lanka, will serve as the strategic and operational leader for multiple engineering units within the development center. The role is responsible for ensuring high-quality product delivery, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, and aligning engineering efforts with company goals and customer expectations. Key responsibilities include overseeing work order management, enforcing quality and delivery standards, leading and mentoring engineering teams, engaging with customers and supporting presales activities, managing project governance and risk, planning capacity and budgets, and driving strategic alignment with company objectives. The ideal candidate will have significant experience leading large engineering teams, strong knowledge of software development and delivery management, and proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Must have
- Proven experience in leading large engineering teams and managing multiple managers.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, quality assurance, and delivery management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution.
- Experience in budgeting, capacity planning, and risk management.
- 15 years of software experience out of which at least 5 years of experience in leadership roles.
Highlights
The compensation package is between LKR 1,500,000 and LKR 1,700,000 gross. The role is based in Malabe, Sri Lanka. The position reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and manages Engineering Managers. Minimum 15 years of software experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles, is required.
