Interns: Software Engineer
About the role
Pentagon i Runway is seeking Software Engineer Interns for a full-time, on-site position in Colombo. Interns will participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise software solutions, working closely with senior engineers and project teams. Responsibilities include implementing features, fixing bugs, writing efficient code, contributing to system integrations, participating in code reviews, and documenting technical work. The role provides exposure to real client projects, modern development tools, and structured mentoring to support professional growth.
Must have
- Strong foundational knowledge in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Practical skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or similar).
- Understanding of Back-End Web Development concepts, such as APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to apply OOP concepts in designing and implementing software components.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- Ability to learn quickly, follow technical guidance, and work effectively within a team-based environment.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic software development lifecycle practices.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
