Senior Lead System Engineer
About the role
The Senior Lead System Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure at APTS in Colombo. The role involves managing servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and high-availability environments, as well as handling critical technical issues and providing escalation-level support. The position also includes leading and mentoring system engineering teams, driving infrastructure projects and technical roadmaps, and ensuring strong security, performance, reliability, and documentation. Candidates should have strong experience in systems engineering, architecture, and administration, with hands-on expertise in relevant technologies, and experience leading technical teams and projects. A degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required. Certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, Dell, HP, Cisco, or Linux are considered an advantage. Must have
- Strong experience in Systems Engineering, Architecture, and System Administration
- Hands-on expertise in servers, operating systems, virtualization, and storage
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience leading technical teams and projects
- Good understanding of networking, security, backup, and disaster recovery
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have
- Microsoft, VMware, Veeam, Dell, HP, Cisco, Linux, or similar certifications will be an advantage
