Data Architect
About the role
The Architect – Data Engineering role is a contract position based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will lead the design and architecture of enterprise-scale data, analytics, and AI solutions, working closely with business leaders, engineering teams, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include defining target-state architectures, designing AI-enabled workflows, architecting cloud-based data platforms, and mentoring engineering teams. The role requires deep expertise in modern data architecture, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled solutions, as well as strong stakeholder engagement and delivery support skills. Applicants should have significant experience in data architecture and solution ownership, with a background in Computer Science or related fields. Must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Data Architecture, Solution Architecture, or senior Data Engineering roles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with architectural ownership of enterprise-scale technology solutions.
- Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture principles and scalable analytics platforms.
- Proven experience designing AI-enabled enterprise solutions.
- Experience with: Agentic Workflows , Large Language Models (LLMs) , Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) , Prompt Engineering , Context Engineering , Model Evaluation Frameworks
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with Google Gemini Enterprise and/or Vertex AI will be a strong advantage.
- Experience operating within domain-driven or embedded architecture models.
- Familiarity with data mesh principles and data product operating models.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise transformation environments.
- Exposure to AI governance, observability, and FinOps frameworks.
