About the role

This role is for a QA Automation Lead who will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable automation frameworks for web, API, and backend testing. The position is hands-on, requiring the candidate to write automation code using tools such as Selenium WebDriver with Java and Playwright, as well as automate API tests and validate backend data with SQL. The role also involves integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines, analyzing failures, mentoring QA engineers, and setting automation standards. The company is an established software engineering and IT services provider in Colombo, serving US and global clients.

Must have

5+ years in software QA or test automation (8+ for Test Lead roles)
Strong hands-on Selenium WebDriver with Java and Playwright
Solid OOP and coding in Java, TypeScript, Python or C#
API testing with Postman and/or REST Assured; good grasp of REST and microservices
Strong SQL for data and integrity checks
Git/GitHub, and experience in Agile/Scrum teams

Nice to have

TestNG, Cypress or Appium; AI-assisted testing (Copilot, Claude)
Docker-based test execution; Kubernetes, AWS
ISTQB or similar certification
E-commerce or subscription systems
