Senior AI Engineer (EC-65)
About the role
The Senior AI Engineer will join a cross-functional engineering team to provide hands-on technical leadership in the architecture, development, deployment, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable, high-performance AI systems supporting business-critical products and workflows. The role involves advanced AI engineering, solution design, technical decision-making, delivery ownership, mentoring, and promoting responsible AI practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with product leaders, architects, engineers, security specialists, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, maintainable, and cloud-ready solutions, while guiding the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and ensuring outputs meet established standards.
Must have
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Approximately 3 to 4 years of hands on AI or machine learning experience, including production deployment.
- Advanced programming skills in Python.
- Strong proficiency in at least one additional language such as Java, C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Go.
- Strong experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or comparable machine learning frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience building production generative AI solutions involving large language models, retrieval augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, model evaluation, or AI agents.
- Strong knowledge of API design, microservices, distributed systems, databases, data pipelines, and cloud architecture.
- Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud and their associated AI services.
- Experience with MLOps practices, including continuous integration and delivery, model versioning, deployment, monitoring, and observability.
- Ability to make sound architecture decisions and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership across projects.
Nice to have
- Experience fine tuning, optimizing, or serving foundation models.
- Knowledge of multimodal AI, computer vision, natural language processing, recommendation systems, or real time AI.
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or a comparable agent and orchestration framework.
- Experience designing or developing Model Context Protocol servers and reusable connectors.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GPU workloads, distributed training, or high throughput model serving.
- Understanding of AI governance, security, privacy, bias, explainability, and regulatory considerations.
- Experience leading AI products from initial concept through production adoption.
- Relevant cloud, machine learning, or AI certifications.
