Intern-IT (Operations Center)
About the role
This is an internship opportunity for passionate individuals to join the Operations Center Team in Sri Lanka, supporting a client's internal applications. The role involves hands-on training and participation in proactive and reactive monitoring of over 1500 applications, assisting with escalation and troubleshooting, and engaging in major incident discussions. Interns will also learn about ITSM processes, contribute to automation software development, and research new technological opportunities. The position is suitable for undergraduates in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related disciplines, and offers exposure to multinational organizational environments and ITIL processes.
Must have
- An undergraduate from a recognized university reading for a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or any other related discipline
- Willingness to work in a roster-based working environment
- Self-paced or hands-on Windows / Linux Server environments such as basic installations/commands/ and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Self-paced or hands-on experience in Virtualization (VirtualBox, ESXi, EC2)
- Knowledge of Linux / Unix and basic scripting with bash, Perl, or python
- Knowledge of OOP concepts
- Knowledge of basic networking
- Knowledge of database concepts and SQL statement generation
- Excellent communication skills along with problem-solving skills
- Basic understanding of cloud-based environments such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
Nice to have
- Knowledge of languages such as PHP, Node, and Java will be an added advantage
