Software Engineer Intern
About the role
The Software Engineer Intern at FirmMark Digital will support the design and development of web-based platforms and software solutions. Responsibilities include implementing features under senior guidance, writing maintainable code, assisting with back-end development, participating in code reviews, troubleshooting bugs, and contributing to testing and documentation. The intern will collaborate with designers and product team members, learn best practices in software architecture, and improve technical skills in a supportive, remote environment. Applicants should have a strong foundation in computer science, skills in back-end and software development, experience or coursework in programming and OOP, familiarity with at least one server-side language and databases, and effective communication skills. The role is suitable for those currently pursuing or recently completed a relevant degree.
Must have
- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles and concepts.
- Skills in Back-End Web Development and Software Development for modern web applications.
- Experience or coursework in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Familiarity with at least one server-side language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/Node.js) and basic database knowledge.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow existing codebases and engineering standards.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to debug and test code effectively.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a remote team environment.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
