Senior Linux Server Administrator (Enterprise Systems & Database Platforms)
About the role
The Senior Linux Server Administrator will join the ICT team to manage enterprise Linux servers and support a strategic database platform migration from AIX to Linux, particularly for Progress OpenEdge databases. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu), supporting and optimizing database servers, planning and executing AIX to Linux migration activities, OS-level tuning, managing security and backups, implementing monitoring and capacity planning, automating administration tasks, and maintaining documentation. The role requires a degree or professional qualification in IT, Computer Science, or Engineering, 5+ years of hands-on Linux server administration experience, strong Linux OS internals knowledge, experience with database platforms on Linux, performance tuning, shell scripting, and good communication skills.
Must have
- Degree or professional qualification in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux server administration in an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Linux OS internals, filesystems (XFS/EXT4), LVM, networking, and systemd.
- Experience supporting database platforms on Linux (Progress OpenEdge, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
- Practical exposure to performance tuning and troubleshooting for high-availability systems.
- Experience with shell scripting; exposure to Ansible or automation tools is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of AIX environments will be an added advantage.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Experience with Progress OpenEdge databases on Linux
- Experience in system migration projects
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus, etc.)
- Exposure to virtualization or cloud platforms
