Executive - BI & AI Engineer
About the role
The Executive - BI and AI Engineer role is a two-year fixed-term contract based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, focused on supporting data-driven decisions and AI-integrated business systems. The position is balanced between BI, analytics, machine learning, data science, software development, AI integration, and process automation. Key responsibilities include developing Power BI reports and dashboards, building data pipelines, analyzing and monitoring machine learning models, developing APIs and web components for AI applications, integrating AI services and automation tools, and deploying BI and AI solutions. Candidates must have a relevant degree and at least one year of experience in BI, analytics, data science, machine learning, software development, or AI integration, along with hands-on Power BI, Python, SQL, and data engineering experience.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- A minimum of one year’s relevant experience in BI, analytics, data science, machine learning, software development or AI integration.
- Hands-on Power BI experience in data modelling, DAX, Power Query, dashboard design and optimisation.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with practical data analysis and machine learning experience.
- Data engineering experience with Microsoft Fabric or another enterprise BI or cloud data platform.
- Understanding of REST APIs, databases, Git and software integration for AI-enabled systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Search.
- Exposure to RAG, agentic workflows, LangChain, LangGraph, LICP or document processing.
- A portfolio demonstrating real-world BI, machine learning, data engineering or AI integration projects.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, CI/CD, model evaluation and responsible AI.
