Lead Quality Engineer
About the role
The Quality Engineering Lead will define and drive the overall quality engineering strategy, aligning it with business and technology objectives. The role involves leading test planning, quality reviews, risk assessments, and release readiness activities across multiple projects and teams. Responsibilities include designing and implementing comprehensive test strategies, establishing automation-first testing practices, driving adoption of AI-assisted testing, and defining quality metrics. The Lead will collaborate with various stakeholders, oversee release governance, mentor the quality engineering team, and drive process improvements. Candidates should have significant experience in quality engineering, leadership roles, test automation, and data testing, with strong communication and analytical skills. The position is offered by InTalent Asia for a client in the IT industry in Sri Lanka, on a contract basis.
Must have
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.
- 6-7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a QE Lead, Associate Lead, or similar leadership role.
- Proven experience defining and executing enterprise-scale test strategies for data platforms, integrations, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Strong experience with test automation frameworks and automation-first delivery models.
- Hands-on experience in Data Quality Testing, ETL Testing, Data Migration Testing, Database Testing, and Data Validation frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing automation solutions using Java, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Git, Maven, and SonarQube.
- Experience with performance engineering and performance testing tools.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, practices, and test design techniques.
- Solid practical understanding of Agile Software Testing and Software Engineering principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with emerging technologies and testing practices.

- Professional certifications such as ISTQB, PMI-ACP, or CSM will be an added advantage.
