Senior Frontend Software Engineer – Angular (EC-67)
About the role
The Senior Frontend Software Engineer – Angular role is focused on designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications using Angular and modern frontend technologies. The position involves defining frontend architecture, building reusable UI components, implementing state management, integrating with RESTful APIs, optimizing performance, ensuring accessibility and security, and writing automated tests. The engineer will use AI-assisted coding tools as part of daily development and is expected to critically review AI-generated code. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring, and maintaining technical documentation are also key aspects. The company, Eyepax, is an established global technology firm with development hubs in Sri Lanka and Vietnam, offering a dynamic and improvement-focused workplace.
Must have
- 5+ years of hands-on frontend software development experience, with at least 3 years of strong Angular experience on production applications.
- Strong proficiency in Angular (v19+ preferred), TypeScript, JavaScript ES6+, HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, and responsive design.
- Deep understanding of Angular architecture: standalone components, dependency injection, routing and guards, interceptors, lifecycle hooks, and change detection (including OnPush and zoneless concepts).
- Hands-on experience with Angular Signals and strong knowledge of RxJS (operators, subscription management, and reactive patterns).
- Experience with state management approaches such as NgRx, NgRx Signal Store, or service-based state with Signals.
- Strong experience with reactive forms, custom validators, and complex form workflows.
- Proven ability to diagnose and fix frontend performance issues using browser DevTools, Lighthouse, and bundle analysis.
- Experience building and maintaining reusable component libraries or design systems (e.g. Angular Material, Angular CDK, or custom).
- Solid knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG, ARIA, keyboard navigation) and cross-browser compatibility.
- Understanding of frontend security, including XSS, CSRF, CSP, and secure handling of OAuth2/OIDC and JWT-based authentication.
- Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with JSON, including error handling, retries, and caching strategies.
- Experience with frontend testing tools such as Jasmine/Karma or Jest for unit tests and Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end tests.
- Familiarity with modern build tooling (Angular CLI, esbuild/Vite-based builders, npm), linting, and formatting (ESLint, Prettier).
- Understanding of object-oriented design, clean code, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
- Familiarity with Git, pull-request workflows, automated builds, and modern CI/CD practices.
- Proven hands-on experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, or equivalent in day-to-day development.
- Ability to use AI effectively across the development lifecycle, including implementation, refactoring, unit testing, debugging, code and legacy code analysis, migrations, documentation, and rapid prototyping.
- Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, agentic coding workflows, and AI-assisted code reviews.
- Ability to critically review, test, and improve AI-generated code, with the understanding that AI complements rather than replaces sound engineering judgment, testing, security practices, and architectural thinking.
- Awareness of responsible AI considerations, including data privacy, intellectual property, information security, hallucination risks, and protection of client information.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Understanding of modern software architectures, including microservices and modular systems, and how frontends integrate with them.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in a client-driven environment.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Experience with Java (17+) and Spring Boot, including RESTful API development, Spring Data JPA with MySQL, and Spring Security (OAuth2, JWT), with the ability to contribute to full-stack features and API contract design.
- Experience with Angular version migrations and upgrades, including ng update, moving to standalone components, Signals, and the new control flow, and resolving breaking changes and library compatibility issues.
- Experience with Nx monorepos, micro-frontend architectures (e.g. Module Federation), or Storybook-based component libraries.
- Experience with real-time features (WebSocket, Server-Sent Events) and internationalization (i18n).
- Domain knowledge of event ticketing, reservation, e-commerce, or other transactional platforms.
