Senior EDI Engineer
About the role
The Senior EDI Engineer at EFL will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining EDI parsers and generators across various formats such as EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, and JSON. The role involves leading production incident investigations, translating customer mapping specifications, reviewing code, and developing AI-powered tools for automation. The engineer will also validate AI outputs, share effective AI workflows, improve CI/CD pipelines, mentor engineers, and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver successful integrations. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, 3-5+ years of backend or integration engineering experience, and strong knowledge of EDI standards and backend programming languages. Experience in logistics or supply chain is an advantage.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of backend or integration engineering experience, including hands-on EDI experience.
- Strong working knowledge of at least one major EDI standard, such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12, with the ability to interpret raw messages and troubleshoot errors.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#, and in SQL.
- Hands-on experience with integration protocols and patterns, including AS2, SFTP, REST APIs, and message queues.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve development workflows, with the ability to explain practical applications, limitations, and verification methods.
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills, with a focus on implementing permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Sound judgment in validating AI-generated code and outputs, with accountability for the correctness of delivered solutions.
- Ability to share technical knowledge, development practices, and EDI expertise to improve team capabilities.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical functions and engage with customers throughout the integration and go-live process.
Nice to have
- Experience in freight forwarding, third-party logistics (3PL), or the supply chain industry will be an added advantage.
