Lead Designer
About the role
The Lead Designer role is responsible for owning the end-to-end design of products, from initial user research to the final interface details. This hands-on position involves running the full design process, designing AI-enabled features for clarity and trust, stewarding the shared design system with marketing, choosing design tools and workflows, and collaborating closely with multiple engineering teams to ensure design consistency and intent. The role also includes coaching others and raising the standard of research, interaction, and visual design as the team grows. The position is hybrid and based in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Colombo.
Must have
- Work hands-on across the full design process yourself — from user research through interaction design to finished UI — producing strong work at each stage.
- Design usable, trustworthy experiences for products with AI on board: handling uncertainty, model output, and human oversight in the interface.
- Build and maintain a design system in partnership with a marketing-owned brand, keeping product and brand consistent as both evolve.
- Choose and set up the team’s design tools and workflow, and get designers and engineers working from one source of truth.
- Partner closely with several engineering teams — reviewing implementation and sometimes building in the codebase — so designs ship consistently and as intended across all of them
