Associate Engineer - Business Intelligence
About the role
The Associate Engineer - Business Intelligence role at EFL involves developing and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, and apps based on business requirements. Key responsibilities include building semantic data models, writing DAX measures and Power Query scripts, managing Power BI administration tasks, conducting data validation and quality assurance, supporting User Acceptance Testing, performing data analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining clear documentation. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics, along with strong Power BI development skills and proficiency in SQL, Python, and Microsoft Office applications. The position is based at EFL's headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics
- Strong Power BI development skills
- Good knowledge of DAX and Power Query (M) for data transformation and preparation
- Good understanding of data modelling principles
- Experience with SQL and/or Python scripting
- Good understanding of statistics, including descriptive statistics, distributions, and data interpretation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Automate, SharePoint, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly in data validation and quality assurance
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data tools
- Basic familiarity with Azure Databricks, including notebook environments or data exploration
- Experience using Git or GitHub for version control and CI/CD in BI or data projects
- Knowledge of the logistics or supply chain industry
