Senior Database Engineer
About the role
The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's database infrastructure, including MySQL, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and Redis. The role involves ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability of database systems, implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies, and automating operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools. The engineer will also maintain observability through dashboards and alerts, troubleshoot complex performance issues, and collaborate with software engineers, DevOps, and Platform teams to improve database and infrastructure performance. Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to internal documentation are also key aspects of the role. Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in database engineering and a strong understanding of modern database technologies and Linux fundamentals.
Must have
- 3–5 years of experience in database engineering, with hands-on responsibility for managing business-critical production systems.
- Solid understanding of database fundamentals and internals, with exposure to modern database technologies, including distributed database systems.
- Experience with Linux fundamentals, cloud compute, storage, and networking services.
- Experience with database backup tools, database proxies, and monitoring and observability solutions.
