About the role
The Senior Data Engineer will join the Global Data Operations team of a major insurance brokerage and risk management company. The role involves building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines and platforms that support the company's insurance and financial data warehouse ecosystem. Key responsibilities include designing and troubleshooting ingestion and ELT/ETL pipelines, resolving data and integration issues, optimizing query performance, automating monitoring and performance tuning, implementing data security controls, and collaborating with various teams on data modernization projects. Candidates should have a strong background in data engineering, SQL, data modeling, and experience with modern data pipeline tools and platforms.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering
- Strong SQL, performance tuning and optimization expertise
- Deep understanding of data modelling (dimensional and operational)
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT concepts and modern data pipeline patterns
- Experience or strong familiarity with Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, Astronomer (Airflow), Automic Automation, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure SQL and Azure DevOps
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex data issues at scale
