Backend Developer Intern
About the role
VisionRoot (Pvt) Ltd is seeking a motivated Backend Developer Intern to join their team. This internship is designed for students or early-career developers who want hands-on experience in backend development, including building REST APIs, working with databases, and implementing secure server-side applications. The role involves developing and maintaining backend services, integrating APIs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and following best practices in software development. Candidates should be pursuing a relevant degree and have a foundational understanding of programming, databases, and version control. The company offers a fully remote, flexible work environment with mentorship and opportunities to work on real-world projects.
Must have
- Currently pursuing a degree or higher education in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Good understanding of programming fundamentals and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#, or PHP.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, and client-server architecture.
- Basic understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with SQL and database concepts.
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub.
- Basic understanding of authentication and authorization.
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.
- Proactive attitude and ability to take ownership of assigned tasks.
Nice to have
- Experience with Node.js, Express.js, NestJS, Spring Boot, ASP.NET Core, Django, Laravel, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, or PHP.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, Firebase, or Supabase.
- Familiarity with Mongoose, Prisma, Entity Framework Core, Hibernate/JPA, or similar ORM/ODM tools.
- Familiarity with JWT, HTTP-only cookies, OAuth, or session-based authentication.
- Understanding of RBAC and API security.
- Experience with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar API development tools.
- Experience writing unit, integration, or API tests.
- Familiarity with Jest, Supertest, JUnit, NUnit, or similar testing frameworks.
- Basic knowledge of Docker and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of CI/CD and GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with caching, Redis, queues, or background jobs.
- Basic understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, payment services, email services, or notification systems.
- Experience working on web, mobile, SaaS, or AI-powered applications.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development.
- Personal projects or GitHub repositories demonstrating backend development skills.
