Associate Technical Lead
About the role
The Associate Technical Lead at PayMedia will be responsible for leading the technical development of wallet and remittance platforms, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security. The role involves defining design decisions, collaborating with product managers and stakeholders, managing the software development lifecycle, mentoring engineers, and ensuring secure coding practices. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in FinTech, backend and mobile technologies, cloud platforms, and security practices relevant to financial technology. PayMedia is a growing FinTech company in Sri Lanka focused on providing innovative software solutions for banks and financial institutions.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a Tech Lead or Senior Engineer role.
- Proven experience in FinTech, especially in digital wallets, remittance systems, or payment platforms.
- Experience with mobile platforms, APIs, transaction processing, and financial protocols.
- Proficient in backend technologies like Node.js, Java, .NET, or Python.
- Familiarity with mobile technologies (iOS, Android, Flutter/React Native).
- Strong experience with RESTful APIs, Microservices Architecture, and Message Queues.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of security practices in FinTech: encryption, fraud detection, 2FA, KYC/AML integrations.
- Strong database knowledge (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Clear and effective communication, both technical and non-technical.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

- Master’s degree or FinTech certifications (optional but a plus).
