Senior Software Engineer
About the role
Pearson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team as a Frontend React Engineer. The role involves developing, maintaining, and enhancing frontend applications using React and TypeScript, integrating APIs with GraphQL and AWS AppSync, and working on Node.js modules. The engineer will optimize applications for performance and accessibility, implement CI/CD best practices, and ensure secure, scalable solutions using AWS. The position requires strong experience in React, TypeScript, Node.js, AWS, GraphQL, CI/CD, Git, and accessibility standards. The role is part of Pearson's Higher Education Technology organization, working in a hybrid environment.
Must have
- Strong experience in React and TypeScript.
- Proficiency in Node.js backend interactions.
- Experience working with AWS, particularly AWS AppSync.
- Strong knowledge of GraphQL for API development and integration.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Experience with Git for version control.
- Understanding of performance optimization and front-end best practices.
- Experience in implementing accessibility best practices and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of UI/UX principles and design systems.
- Exposure to serverless technologies and microservices architecture.
