Senior GenAI Engineer
About the role
The Senior GenAI Engineer role focuses on designing and building production systems that integrate modern AI/ML tooling, particularly agentic AI workflows and Model Context Protocol Servers. The position emphasizes strong software engineering fundamentals, architectural judgment, and the ability to integrate AI agents into real-world systems. Key responsibilities include system design, architecture, and ensuring scalability, modularity, and reliability, especially in the context of RESTful APIs and WebSocket-based real-time communication. The role is suitable for engineers with a solid background in Python, databases, and cloud platforms, with additional exposure to AI/ML and healthcare domains considered advantageous.
Must have
- Python strong production grade proficiency
- Databases solid relational SQL fundamentals schema design query optimization data modeling
- Cloud platform strong hands on experience with at least one of Google Cloud Platform or AWS
- 4 years of professional software engineering experience
- Design Architecture Thinking
- Strong grounding in modular design clear separation of concerns well-bounded components/services low coupling high cohesion
- Ability to design systems that scale horizontally statelessness where it matters partitioning/sharding strategy load distribution avoiding single points of contention
- Strong grasp of RESTful API design resource modeling versioning pagination idempotency for retries proper status codes/error contracts
- Practical experience with WebSocket-based real-time communication connection lifecycle management, reconnection/backoff strategy, heartbeat/keep-alive handling, and graceful degradation when a socket drops
- Understands tradeoffs between REST, WebSockets, and event-driven/streaming integration patterns, and picks the right one for the use case
- Java working knowledge; candidates comfortable in both Python and Java are ideal
- Healthcare domain experience prior work on healthcare, health-tech, or health-data platforms is a strong plus
- ML/AI exposure enough to reason about model outputs, confidence, and integration patterns
Nice to have
- Deep AI/ML research background not required; this is an application/systems engineering role that touches AI tooling, not a research role
- Strong in Python + SQL/databases as a baseline
- Proven in one major cloud
- Comfortable or curious about Java
Technologies
- Agentic AI
- AWS
- Data Modeling
- Event-Driven Architecture
- GCP
- Generative AI
- Java
- Machine Learning
- MCP
- Python
- REST
- SQL
- WebSockets
Highlights
This is an application/systems engineering role that interacts with AI tooling but does not require a deep AI/ML research background. Candidates with prior healthcare domain experience or those comfortable in both Python and Java are preferred. The role expects 2-5 years of work experience, with senior and lead levels available depending on experience.
