Software Engineer - Integrations
About the role
The Software Engineer – Integrations role involves designing, developing, and maintaining distributed, highly available data processing applications to support enterprise-scale business requirements. The position focuses on building and managing both batch and real-time streaming data pipelines, developing integration solutions for ERP and enterprise platforms, and implementing robust data integration strategies. The engineer will work with technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Python, REST APIs, microservices, Google Cloud Platform, and various data ingestion and orchestration tools. The role requires strong collaboration with business and technical stakeholders, participation in code reviews and architecture discussions, and a commitment to engineering excellence. The position is offered on a renewable contract basis, initially for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance. Must have
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Python, REST APIs, Microservices Architecture, and Enterprise Integration Patterns.
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise integration solutions.
- Strong practical knowledge of data ingestion platforms such as Fivetran and related orchestration frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience working with BigQuery, Datastream, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and Cloud Composer.
- Strong experience developing and supporting cloud-native applications.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications such as AS400, SAP, and Dynamics 365.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, schema design, data modelling, and enterprise integration strategies.
- Knowledge of data streaming technologies such as Kafka and Apache Beam.
- Experience with GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, and CI/CD automation tools.
- Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog or equivalent platforms.
- Understanding of modern software architectures, distributed systems, and scalable cloud platforms.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience developing enterprise-grade software applications.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and object-oriented programming skills.
- Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
- Passion for learning new technologies and continuously improving technical capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform will be an added advantage.

Highlights
The role is based in Colombo - 03 and follows a hybrid working model with standard local working hours (Monday to Friday). Employment is on a renewable contract basis, starting with an initial 6-month contract that may be extended to a 1-year renewable contract based on performance.
