About the role

The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data platforms and pipelines using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies. The role involves developing ETL/ELT workflows, supporting modern data platform design, implementing data modeling and transformation strategies, and ensuring data quality, governance, and security. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Analysts, AI Engineers, and Data Scientists to deliver robust technical solutions for analytics, reporting, and AI-driven use cases. The position also emphasizes continuous learning, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to engineering best practices.

Must have

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data platform engineering, or a related role.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies such as: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Pipelines), Azure SQL / Data Lake / related Azure services.
Strong proficiency in SQL.
Hands-on experience in Python (or a similar language) for data processing, transformation, or automation.
Solid experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
Good understanding of data modeling concepts including dimensional modeling and star schemas.
Experience with data quality, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional environments.

Nice to have

Experience working with Microsoft Fabric in live projects or proof-of-concept environments.
Exposure to AI/ML workloads, feature pipelines, or advanced analytics use cases.
Experience with lakehouse architecture, medallion design, or distributed processing frameworks.
Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps practices, or infrastructure automation for data projects.
Experience in consulting, managed services, or client-facing delivery environments.
Relevant Microsoft certifications such as: DP-203, DP-600 / Fabric certifications, Other Azure Data / Analytics certifications.
