Senior Data Engineer
About the role
The Senior Data Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining robust ETL pipelines for data integration and transformation within the insurance technology sector. The position involves building and managing scalable data architectures, ensuring data quality, and developing data workflows using Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, implement best practices in data governance, and provide technical guidance for data initiatives. The role is based in Colombo 09 and operates on a hybrid working model with shift-based hours. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 4.5 years of data engineering experience, with strong hands-on skills in ETL processes and expertise in Snowflake or Azure Data Factory. Must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 4.5+ years of experience in Data Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience in ETL processes and data pipeline development
- Expertise in Snowflake or Azure Data Factory is essential
- Strictly data engineering-focused experience (profiles focused on Data Science or BI will not be considered)
- Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and modern data stack technologies
- Flexibility to work in shift-based environments based on roster requirements
Nice to have
- Experience working in cloud-based data environments is an advantage
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
