Senior Internal Auditor
About the role
The Senior Internal Auditor will independently assess operational processes, compliance with contracts, risk management, governance, and financial controls within the business unit. Responsibilities include conducting risk-based audits, identifying control weaknesses and risks, recommending improvements, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. The role involves working closely with management and the Board of Directors to drive continuous improvement in internal controls and business processes. The position is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is suited for analytical, detail-oriented professionals passionate about risk management and process improvement.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or internal controls.
- Strong knowledge of internal audit, risk management, and internal controls.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and commercial contracts.
- Strong analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and systems.
- High integrity, professional skepticism, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical, proactive, and focused on improvement.
- Ability to work independently and engage confidently with management and senior stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Professional qualifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Master of Business Administration (MBA) would be an advantage.
- Experience in a shipping agency or multinational organization would be preferred.
