Senior Engineer - Business Intelligence
About the role
The Senior Engineer - Business Intelligence at EFL will be responsible for designing and building data transformation pipelines and workflows on Microsoft Fabric, developing enterprise-level semantic models, and maintaining security roles and data access controls. The role involves developing and maintaining Power BI reports, managing Power BI administration tasks, supporting data governance practices, and mentoring junior BI engineers. Candidates should have a strong background in business intelligence, analytics, data modelling, and warehousing, with hands-on experience in Azure data tools and strong Power BI and SQL skills. The position is based at EFL's headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and offers the opportunity to work in a leading global supply chain solutions provider.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics
- Strong Power BI skills with proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for data transformation and model preparation
- Strong data modelling and data warehousing skills
- Hands-on experience with Azure data tools, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Server
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries, query optimisation, and data manipulation
- Experience with Python for scripting and data processing
- Strong understanding of data governance principles
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric will be highly advantageous
- Experience with Azure Databricks, including PySpark, Delta Lake, and notebook-based workflows will be an added advantage
- Experience using Git or GitHub for version control and CI/CD in data and BI projects will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of logistics or supply chain operations will be advantageous
- Experience with advanced analytics, predictive modelling, or AI/ML integration in BI solutions will be an added advantage
