About the role
Umbrella Connect is hiring a Senior Web Developer to take ownership of their web systems and support the growth of UK-based businesses from their Wattala, Sri Lanka office. The role involves maintaining and improving existing websites, developing new features, optimizing WordPress and WooCommerce sites, implementing technical SEO, and integrating marketing technology and AI solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong development skills, experience with both front-end and back-end technologies, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with marketing and business teams. The company offers a key role with meaningful ownership, the opportunity to influence technical direction, and the chance to work on varied projects supporting UK-based brands.
Must have
- At least 4–5 years of relevant professional experience, excluding internships.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating successful websites, web applications, or useful product features.
- Strong knowledge of front-end and back-end development, databases, APIs, and third-party integrations.
- Proven experience with WordPress and WooCommerce, with the ability to work across other platforms when needed.
- Broad understanding of AI tools, automation, and their practical applications, supported by examples of work you have delivered.
- Ability to evaluate technical options based on reliability, maintainability, cost, and business value.
- Familiarity with technical SEO, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and marketing technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear communication.
- The ability to take ownership, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
