Senior Data Support Engineer
About the role
The Senior Data Support Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of enterprise production data platforms, particularly within the insurance and financial data warehouse ecosystem. The role involves acting as the primary escalation point for complex incidents, leading development initiatives such as platform enhancements and automation, and mentoring the support engineering team. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, platform optimization, supporting compliance requirements, producing documentation, and collaborating with various teams on data modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience with ETL processes, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, and a strong background in data-centric support operations.
Must have
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes, including testing ETL pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, and complex data transformations
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake
- Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience with a strong focus on data-centric support operations
- Experience working within ITSM / ITIL environments
- Strong SQL, performance tuning, and optimization expertise
- Deep understanding of data modelling, including dimensional and operational modelling
- Proficiency with ELT concepts and modern data pipeline patterns
- Experience or strong familiarity with DBT, Fivetran, Astronomer (Airflow), Automic Automation, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Azure DevOps
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management capability
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to mentor and uplift team capability
- Strong leadership abilities and a collaborative mindset
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
