Help Desk Technician
About the role
The Help Desk Technician will provide first-level technical support to employees and customers, handling hardware, software, and network-related issues. Responsibilities include responding to support requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems, installing and maintaining IT equipment, diagnosing and resolving technical problems, escalating complex issues, maintaining documentation, and assisting with user account and system configurations. Candidates should have a diploma in IT or a related field, 1–2 years of IT support experience, basic IT troubleshooting knowledge, and strong communication skills. The role requires familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Office 365, and a willingness to work on a rotational roster. Applicants must reside in Colombo or nearby suburbs.
Must have
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support roles.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and networking.
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Office 365, and troubleshooting tools.
- Willingness to work on a rotational roster basis.
- Must be residing in Colombo or its surrounding suburbs.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ticketing systems and remote support tools would be an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, DNS, and DHCP.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and user access management.
- Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize tasks effectively.
