Associate Engineer / Engineer – Data Science & Artificial Intelligence
About the role
The Associate Engineer / Engineer – Data Science & Artificial Intelligence role is a 1-year contract position based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The successful candidate will join a team focused on building scalable, production-grade AI solutions for enterprise environments. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing machine learning models, deploying deep learning solutions, working with large language models, and developing MLOps pipelines. The role also involves collaborating with data engineering teams, developing secure APIs, and contributing to technical architecture and best practices. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of hands-on experience in data science or ML engineering, with strong Python skills and familiarity with modern ML and MLOps tools.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in Data Science or ML Engineering
- Strong Python skills and experience with scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, NumPy, and pandas
- Experience developing and deploying production-grade ML models
- Knowledge of MLflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, SageMaker, or similar MLOps platforms
- Exposure to LLMOps, RAG, vector databases, embeddings, and prompt engineering
- Experience with APIs, microservices, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Understanding of data pipelines, feature engineering, model lifecycle management, and CI/CD
- Knowledge of time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and telemetry data
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Comfortable working in Agile, cross-functional teams with an engineering-first mindset
