Senior Data Engineer
About the role
The Senior Data Engineer role is based in Colombo 03, Sri Lanka, and is aimed at professionals with a strong background in data engineering. The position involves solving complex challenges, building scalable data solutions, and working with modern technologies. Key responsibilities include working with Python, FastAPI or Spring Boot, Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, NiFi, Airflow, dbt, advanced SQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud platforms. The role also requires experience in MLOps, production ML environments, and mentoring or leading a small engineering team. Must have
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience with FastAPI and/or Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, and NiFi
- Strong knowledge of Apache Airflow and dbt
- Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL and/or DB2
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux
- Understanding of OAuth2 and API security
- Exposure to GCP or other cloud platforms
- Practical experience with MLOps and production ML environments
- Strong coding, system design, architecture, and problem-solving skills
- Experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team
