Network & Structured Cabling Engineer
About the role
Cyrus Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. is seeking a Network & Structured Cabling Engineer to join their engineering team in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The role involves performing structured network cabling installations, including Cat6/Cat6A and fibre optic cables, installing and configuring network racks and LAN infrastructure, and supporting related projects such as CCTV and Wi-Fi cabling. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in structured cabling, network rack installations, and enterprise LAN projects, with responsibilities including cable testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining installation documentation.
Must have
- Minimum 2 years of experience in network cabling or structured cabling installations.
- Practical experience with Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A cabling.
- Experience with patch panels, network racks, cable management and termination tools.
- Basic understanding of LAN, Ethernet, switches and networking fundamentals.
- Ability to use cable testers and network testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and work on installation projects.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of fibre optic cabling and termination will be an advantage.
- Degree, or Diploma in IT, Networking, or a related field.
- Good knowledge of network cabling and Wireless technologies.
- Structured Cabling Manufacturer / Vendor certifications will be an advantage.
- Networking certifications such as Cisco CCNA will be an advantage.
